Discover yourself through your Sensation the primary way of knowing.
Often when we sit for long periods of time, we experience discomfort in our low backs, necks, hips-- or we have difficulty standing straight after sitting. Sometimes we are unable to find a comfortable seat at all. Whether looking for an easier seat for meditation or for yoga, or searching for some ease at work, you'll find a start here.
In this grounding workshop for the season, we'll play with movements that will help you reorganize and improve your sitting in these explorations. In Feldenkrais methodology, we free ourselves by discovering or unwinding old habits, and creating opportunities for the nervous system to find a more functional way. Gain a felt sense of what impacts your sitting comfort through short lecture and guided movement. We'll address hamstrings, hip joints, and abdominal muscles, and how to support and find comfort in sitting beyond (but including) props. No matter how you like to sit, you can improve it here.
What you’ll need: Yoga mat / Blanket (or you can sit in a chair) Hand towel Paper and writing implement
You will find your own deep insights through this facilitated journey through lecture, discussion, Awareness through Movement® lessons (think playful, slow, exploratory floor work), and an opportunity for learning that will influence how you sit, drive, meditate, and perhaps even improve how you put on your socks! Class will be audio recorded so that you can revisit your learning.

Self-Study
Svadyaya is the yogic principle for living that teaches self-study. Discover yourself through your body, the primary way of knowing.
Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.
