What is the Feldenkrais Method®?
Brain and body learn together.
Rooted in neuroplasticity, and functional anatomy, the method is a way for us to access our human potential for learning. We access this through movement, the place of magic between intention and action. We all have the capacity to improve. The Method works through hands on somatic education, or through classes. The work is always individualized, because no one of us has had the same experiences, or the same exact structure. And yet, because of what we know of the nervous system, we know we all have the capacity to improve. Learn a new way of working with what you have. For many of us the injuries we have are a direct result of the way we have learned to organize movement. That is not to say our injuries our fault, but is simply to acknowledge that how we adapted to do what we thought was right, what we learned about ourselves, and how we coped with injury and cultural demands—it has asked of us an enormous task. With the Feldenkrais Method, you have an opportunity to let go of the patterns of movement that do not serve you and find your way to another way to move that will help you find your potential. |
What we do here is find the way to move that is intrinsically rewarding to you, and that serves your healing journey.
